Replacing a countertop is a short project with one hard rule: nothing gets cut until we have measured your actual cabinets. Everything else follows from that.

The process, step by step
1. Tell us about the project
Call with or without measurements. A rough sketch with dimensions is enough to get you a material range and a realistic timeline.
2. Free on-site measurement
We measure at no charge anywhere within about an hour of Baton Rouge or Lake Charles. This is not a sales visit — it is how we establish what is actually there, because cabinets settle and floors are rarely level.
3. Choose your slab
With quartz this is straightforward; it is manufactured to be consistent, so the sample represents the product. With granite, marble, quartzite and dolomite it is essential — natural stone varies slab to slab, sometimes dramatically, and photographs flatten veining. Come and look at the actual piece.
4. Template
Once cabinets are installed and leveled, we template against them precisely. This is the step people want to skip to save a week, and it is the one that cannot be skipped. A slab cut to a drawing that does not match the room is scrap.
5. Fabrication and installation
Cutting, cutouts for sink and cooktop, edge profiling, then installation and seaming. Typically two to three weeks from template.
What “installed” includes
Quotes stop being comparable when suppliers include different things. Ours covers templating, fabrication, cutouts, edge profile, installation and seaming.
Before you compare two numbers from anyone, ask each whether the price includes tear-out and disposal of the existing countertop, sink and cooktop cutouts, the edge profile you actually want, and sealing where the material needs it. A $45 per square foot quote missing three of those is not cheaper than a $55 quote that includes them.

Also 2cm pre-fabricated tops in standard sizes — economical and well suited to bathroom vanities and shorter runs where the span does not need 3cm rigidity.
Thickness: 2cm or 3cm
3cm is heavier and more rigid. It is the right choice for islands and any long unsupported run, and it is what most kitchens get.
2cm works well for bathroom vanities and short spans, and pre-fabricated 2cm pieces are a genuinely economical option where the run suits a standard size.
Timeline, honestly
The clock starts at template, not at order. Cabinets must be in and level first. From template, fabrication and installation typically complete within two to three weeks. The install itself is usually a single day for a standard kitchen.
If someone quotes you a same-week turnaround on natural stone, ask what step they are leaving out.

Frequently asked questions
Do you remove the old countertop?
Ask us when you get your quote so it is written in explicitly. It is one of the line items that differs most between suppliers, which is exactly why it is worth confirming rather than assuming.
Can you install a countertop on cabinets I bought elsewhere?
Yes, provided the boxes are sound and level. We will assess them at the measurement visit and tell you straight if they are not ready.
How many seams will my countertop have?
It depends on slab size and your layout. We plan seams at the template stage and will show you where they fall before anything is cut.
Do you install outdoor countertops?
Yes. Granite is generally the better choice outdoors because quartz can discolor under sustained UV. See outdoor kitchens.
What if the slab cracks during fabrication?
Ask any supplier this before you sign, ours included. It is a fair question and you should get a clear answer from anyone you are considering.
